Name the balance before valuing it

Record whether the account display shows tier credits, rewards points, Star Cash, FreePlay or a promotional entry. The official benefits table uses these labels for different purposes and may show separate earning ratios and 24-hour redemption limits.

Capture the active tier and date because tier qualification, earning speed and benefits can change. A balance screenshot without the unit and tier cannot support a later redemption calculation.

Choose cash, FreePlay or an outlet purchase

Compare the official conversion shown for cash and FreePlay with the intended use. FreePlay normally remains gaming credit until played under its rules, while cash is a different redemption path.

For hotel, dining, convenience-store or gift-shop use, confirm that the outlet participates and whether exclusions or minimum purchases apply. Ask the rewards desk before ordering if the balance is close to the expected total.

Keep a receipt for every conversion

Before redeeming, note the opening balance, conversion rate and requested benefit. Afterward, save the receipt or account movement and check that the deducted points match the benefit received.

If the figures differ, take the record to the Star Rewards desk with the card, timestamp and outlet receipt. Do not assume a pending promotion entry has the same value as settled rewards points.
